§ 161-14-02

\n(a) Prior to recording a document or instrument that (i) purports to impact an official record of birth meeting the requirements of G.S. 161-14 and (ii) is not a birth registration or birth certificate, an amendment of a birth certificate, or a certificate of identification as defined in Article 4 of Chapter 130A of the General Statutes, the Register of Deeds shall conspicuously mark the first page of the document or instrument with the following statement:\n'THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT AN OFFICIAL BIRTH RECORD.'\n(b) This section does not apply to a document or instrument which is attached to real estate documents as an exhibit.
