Effective: July 1, 1985 Latest Legislation: House Bill 201 - 116th General Assembly Where an audit report made of the office of the attorney general sets forth that public money has been illegally expended, or that any public money collected has not been accounted for, or that public money due, except claims certified for collection, has not been collected, or that any public property has been converted or misappropriated, a certified copy of the report shall be filed with the governor, who shall promptly retain legal counsel to institute civil action in the proper court in the name of the state for the recovery of the money or property and prosecute the action to final determination.
