Effective: October 3, 2023 Latest Legislation: House Bill 33 - 135th General Assembly (A) Every telecommunication service provider able to generate 9-1-1 traffic within the state shall do all of the following: (1) Register with the 9-1-1 program office; (2) Provide a single point of contact to the 9-1-1 program office who has the authority to assist in location-data discrepancies, including 9-1-1 traffic misroutes and no-record-found errors; (3) Provide location data for all 9-1-1 traffic with the accuracy and validity necessary to ensure proper routing to the most appropriate public safety answering point or local next generation 9-1-1 system. Provision of this location data may include both of the following: (a) Preprovisioning of location data into a state-operated database utilizing industry standard protocols; (b) Providing a routable location with the 9-1-1 traffic at call time, utilizing approved standards for both legacy and next generation 9-1-1.
