Effective: April 7, 2009 Latest Legislation: House Bill 529 - 127th General Assembly A coroner and procurement organization shall cooperate in the timely removal of a part from a decedent for the purpose of life-saving organ transplantation or therapy if an anatomical gift has been or might be made of the part and either of the following is the case: (A) The decedent's body is under the jurisdiction of the coroner and a post-mortem examination or autopsy is not required.(B) The decedent has been referred to the coroner for post-mortem examination, it is determined that an autopsy is required, and after consultation with the prosecuting attorney, if a consultation is necessary, it is determined that the recovery of the part will not interfere with the autopsy.
