Effective: March 31, 2003 Latest Legislation: House Bill 510 - 124th General Assembly (A)(1) The department of rehabilitation and correction may grant escorted visits to prisoners confined in any state correctional facility for the limited purpose of visiting a relative in imminent danger of death or having a private viewing of the body of a deceased relative.(2) Prior to granting any prisoner an escorted visit for the limited purpose of visiting a relative in imminent danger of death or having a private viewing of the body of a deceased relative under this section, the department shall notify its office of victims' services so that the office may provide assistance to any victim or victims of the offense committed by the prisoner and to members of the family of the victim.(B) The department of rehabilitation and correction shall adopt rules for the granting of escorted visits under this section and for supervising prisoners on an escorted visit.(C) No prisoner shall be granted an escorted visit under this section if the prisoner is likely to pose a threat to the public safety or has a record of more than two felony commitments (including the present charge), not more than one of
