Effective: October 3, 2023 Latest Legislation: House Bill 33 - 135th General Assembly (A) Except as provided for in division (C) of this section, if the superintendent, or equivalent, of a public secondary school in which a participant is enrolled determines that the participant has not attained a passing final grade in a college course in which the participant enrolled under this chapter, the superintendent, or equivalent, may seek reimbursement from the participant or the participant's parent for the amount of state funds paid to the college on behalf of the participant for that college course. The governing entity of a public school, in accordance with division (C) of section 3313.642 of the Revised Code, may withhold grades and credits received by the participant for high school courses taken by the participant until the participant or the participant's parent provides reimbursement. (B) Except as provided for in division (C) of this section, if the chief administrator of a participating nonpublic school in which a participant is enrolled determines that the participant has not attained a passing final grade in a college course in which the participant enrolled under this

Upon the collection of any funds from a participant or participant's parent under this division, the chief administrator of a nonpublic school shall send an amount equal to the funds collected to the department of education and workforce. The department shall credit that amount to the general revenue fund. (C) Unless the participant was expelled by the school, the superintendent, or equivalent, or chief administrator shall not seek reimbursement from a participant or a participant's parent under division (A) or (B) of this section, if the participant is identified as economically disadvantaged according to rules adopted by the department.
