Effective: November 3, 1999 Latest Legislation: House Bill 223 - 123rd General Assembly The director of agriculture shall create within the department of agriculture a position to be filled by an individual knowledgeable in food safety and the epidemiology of foodborne illness. The director of health shall create within the department of health a position to be filled by an individual knowledgeable in food safety rules concerning food service operations and the epidemiology of foodborne illness. The individuals appointed to these positions shall serve as liaisons between the departments. They shall also serve as the departments' liaisons with other state agencies, boards of health, representatives of retail and other food establishments, representatives of food service operations, and the federal government.
