Effective: October 15, 2015 Latest Legislation: Senate Bill 110 - 131st General Assembly (A) As used in this section, 'local anesthesia' means the injection of a drug or combination of drugs to stop or prevent a painful sensation in a circumscribed area of the body where a painful procedure is to be performed. 'Local anesthesia' includes only local infiltration anesthesia, digital blocks, and pudendal blocks.(B) A physician assistant may administer, monitor, or maintain local anesthesia as a component of a procedure the physician assistant is performing or as a separate service when the procedure requiring local anesthesia is to be performed by the physician assistant's supervising physician or another person. A physician assistant shall not administer, monitor, or maintain any other form of anesthesia, including regional anesthesia or any systemic sedation.
