Effective: January 1, 2025 Latest Legislation: House Bill 33 - 135th General Assembly (A) Prior to employing a person or engaging a subcontractor, intern, or volunteer, an institution or association, as defined in division (A)(1)(a) of section 5103.02 of the Revised Code, that is a residential facility, as defined in division (A)(6) of section 5103.05 of the Revised Code, shall do the following regarding the person, subcontractor, intern, or volunteer: (1) Obtain a search of the United States department of justice national sex offender public web site regarding the person; (2) Obtain a summary report of a search of the uniform statewide automated child welfare information system in accordance with divisions (A) and (B) of section 5103.18 of the Revised Code. (B) An institution or association, as defined in division (A)(1)(a) of section 5103.02 of the Revised Code, that is not a residential facility, as defined in division (A)(6) of section 5103.05 of the Revised Code, shall obtain the search and summary report described in division (A) of this section before hiring a person, or engaging a subcontractor, intern, or volunteer, who will have access to children.
