Effective: September 29, 2013 Latest Legislation: House Bill 59 - 130th General Assembly (A) The department of rehabilitation and correction shall have exclusive direction and control of the care and treatment of seriously mentally ill inmates who are in the department's custody. The department shall enter into any arrangements it considers desirable on such matters, including but not limited to both of the following: (1) The monitoring of such services by another state agency or agencies;(2) Adopting joint standards for the provision and monitoring of mental health services with the department of mental health and addiction services and other state agencies.(B) In order to implement its duties imposed by division (A) of this section, the department of rehabilitation and correction may enter into a contract for the provision of the mental health services described in that division.
