Effective: September 17, 1996 Latest Legislation: House Bill 572 - 121st General Assembly The director of transportation shall appoint a chief engineer, who shall be a registered professional engineer and who shall serve at the pleasure of the director. The chief engineer is exempt from state civil service requirements and regulations, and shall perform such duties as are designated by the director.
