The governing body of a municipality shall give notice of a general municipal election or a special election by publishing the resolution calling for the election. The resolution shall: contain the facts described in Section 13-102 of Title 26 of the Oklahoma Statutes. The resolution shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the municipality at least ten (10) days before the beginning of the filing period for a general municipal election, or at least ten (10) days before the date of a special election. If there is no newspaper of general circulation in the municipality, the notice shall be given by posting a copy of the resolution in at least five (5) public places in the municipality.Added by Laws 1977, c. 256, § 16-101, eff.
