A. The purpose of the Life, Accident and Health Insurance Policy Language Simplification Act is to establish minimum standards for language used in policies and certificates of life, accident and health insurance, and subscriber certificates of medical care corporations, health care corporations, hospital service associations, and health maintenance organizations, delivered or issued for delivery in this state, to facilitate ease of reading by insureds and subscribers. B. The Life, Accident and Health Insurance Policy Language Simplification Act is not intended to increase the risk assumed by insurance companies or other entities or to supercede their obligation to comply with the substance of other applicable insurance laws. The Life, Accident and Health Insurance Policy Language Simplification Act is not intended to impede flexibility and innovation in the development of policy forms or content, or to lead to the standardization of policy forms or content.Added by Laws 1986, c. 141, § 2, eff.
