§ 47-12-506

Any person convicted of violating any of the provisions of the Odometer Setting Act with intent to misrepresent the true mileage driven of a motor vehicle shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) or imprisonment for not more than one (1) year, or by both fine and imprisonment. A person violating the provisions of the Odometer Setting Act shall have civil liability for the greater of three times the actual damages or One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00). Additionally, the court may award court costs and attorney fees to the prevailing party in a civil action. Added by Laws 1982, c. 275, § 6. Amended by Laws 1998, c. 10, § 1, eff.
