If the defendant chooses to make a statement, the magistrate shall take it in a recorded proceeding without oath, and shall put to the defendant the following questions only:\n(1) What is your name and age?\n(2) Where were you born?\n(3) Where do you reside and how long have you resided there?\n(4) What is your business or occupation?\n(5) Give any explanation you think proper of the circumstances appearing in the testimony against you and state any facts which you think will tend to your exculpation.
