(1) A person commits the offense of failing to maintain a cedar purchase record if the person buys or otherwise obtains cedar products directly from any person who has harvested the cedar without keeping a record of the products purchased or obtained.\n(2) The record required by subsection (1) of this section shall be retained by the purchaser for a period of not less than one year and shall be available to any peace officer on demand.\nThe record shall contain:\n(a) The name, address, date of sale and signature of the seller or the person making delivery;\n(b) The license number of any motor vehicles used in the delivery of the cedar; and\n(c) The quantity of cedar obtained and the amount paid for the cedar.\n(3) The provisions of this section apply only to the first wholesale transaction involving cedar products and do not apply to retail sales of cedar.\n(4) Failing to maintain a cedar purchase record is a Class B misdemeanor.
