(1) The Legislative Assembly finds that local economic development activities and initiatives are essential to the state’s long-term prosperity and that to be effective, local economic development strategies must have the coordinated support of available resources.\n(2) The Legislative Assembly declares that the purpose of ORS 285B.230 to 285B.266 is:\n(a) To encourage the development of local economic development strategies that address the economic development priorities of communities in or geographic regions of the state;\n(b) To identify and coordinate economic development priorities;\n(c) To ensure that economic development plans reinforce the long-term prosperity and livability of Oregon;\n(d) To effectively utilize available resources through a strategic program tied to the state’s economic development strategy;\n(e) To leverage and attract capital investment in Oregon communities; and\n(f) To coordinate private and public resources to support economic development.
