(1) As used in this section, 'veteran' means a person who is:\n(a) A resident of Oregon; and\n(b) A veteran as defined in ORS 408.225.\n(2) The Department of Veterans’ Affairs shall provide, in written or electronic format, educational materials on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of hepatitis C in veterans who are at high risk of contracting the disease.\n(3) The department shall make the materials available to all veterans and health care providers.\n(4) The materials shall include:\n(a) The recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Liver Foundation relating to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of hepatitis C; and\n(b) Information from other groups that the department believes present reliable information concerning the increased risk to veterans of contracting hepatitis C.
