(1) All petitions, answers, motions and other papers must be liberally construed with a view of substantial justice between the parties.\n(2) In every stage of an action, the court shall disregard an error or defect in a petition, answer, motion, other paper or proceeding that does not affect the substantial rights of the adverse party.
