Section 12901 - Election and vacancies

(a) Election.--In each county in which the office of controller has not been established, three county auditors shall be elected in 1955 and every four years thereafter. In the election of county auditors, each qualified elector shall vote for no more than two individuals. The three individuals with the highest number of votes shall be elected to the office of county auditor. (b) Vacancies.--A vacancy in the office of county auditors shall be filled, for the balance of the unexpired term, by the court of common pleas of the county, sitting en banc, appointing a successor who, at the time the vacating auditor assumed office, was a registered elector of the county and was a member of the same political party as the vacating auditor.
