Section 9502 - Definitions

The following words and phrases when used in this chapter shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: 'Grounds to investigate.' Information which would lead a reasonable person to suspect that a crime is being or has been committed. 'Independent counsel.' A person appointed by the panel upon the request of a special investigative counsel. 'Panel.' The Special Independent Prosecutor's Panel established under this chapter. 'Requesting judge.' A president judge of a court of common pleas, or a judge of an intermediate court sitting in the court's original jurisdiction, who applies for the appointment of a special investigative counsel to investigate a contempt of court. 'Special investigative counsel.' A person appointed by the panel to conduct a preliminary investigation under this chapter.
