Section 5455 - Appointment of health care agents

(a) Multiple and successor health care agents.--A principal may appoint the following in a health care power of attorney: (1) More than one health care agent who shall act jointly unless the health care power of attorney expressly provides otherwise. (2) One or more successor agents who shall serve in the order named in the health care power of attorney unless the principal expressly directs to the contrary. (b) Who may not be appointed health care agent.--Unless related to the principal by blood, marriage or adoption, a health care agent of the principal may not be any of the following: (1) The principal's attending physician or other health care provider. (2) An owner, operator or employee of a health care provider in which the principal is receiving care.
