Section 1702 - Registration

(a) Improper.--A registrar, commissioner or clerk who knowingly registers or permits the registration of an applicant not lawfully entitled to be registered commits a misdemeanor of the first degree and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for not more than five years, or both. (b) Denial.--A registrar, commissioner or clerk who, without reasonable cause, refuses to register a qualified elector lawfully entitled to be registered commits a misdemeanor of the first degree and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for not more than five years, or both.
