Section 2606 - Resignation

(a) Form and reinstatement.-- (1) An employee may resign from the classified service either verbally or in writing. (2) Upon the request of an appointing authority, an employee may be reinstated in the classification from which the employee resigned. (b) Acceptance of resignation.--Resignation of an individual in the classified service shall not be effective unless accepted by the appointing authority in writing within 15 calendar days after the date the individual tenders resignation. (c) Resignation prohibited.--No individual about to be appointed to a position in the classified service shall, in advance of or at the time of the appointment, sign or execute a resignation, whether dated or undated.
