As part of the different community service options to be performed by students by virtue of this chapter, the latter may carry out school buildings maintenance and reconditioning works.For such purposes, it is hereby provided that the Department of Education, as well as the Office for the Improvement of Public Schools and/or the Public Buildings Authority, shall provide the materials needed for carrying out improvements to structures consisting of paint, ornamentation and beautification of school buildings, to students who carry out community service works. The Secretary of Education shall have the duty of determining the work to be performed, taking the necessary measures to ensure the safety of students and assuring that the insurance coverage of the Department is appropriate to achieve the purposes of this chapter.
