The special sports leave established in § 1101 of this title shall have a cumulative duration of not more than thirty (30) workdays a year, counted on and after the date of approval of this act. Eligible sportspersons, trainers and specialized personnel may be absent from their jobs through this special sports leave, during the time they are participating in these competitions, up to a maximum of forty-five (45) workdays a year, if they have accumulated them, under sports leave, vacations, and in cases in which it may apply, compensatory time without any loss of pay or efficiency rating. Provided, That the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee shall pay from the funds it receives, the unearned salaries of the employee sportspersons of the private sector who avail themselves of this special sports leave.\nSportspersons who are public employees shall enjoy the leave established herein without any salary deductions.\nHistory —June 27, 1987, No. 49, p. 167, § 2; July 23, 1992, No. 38, § 2; Sept. 23, 2004, No. 488, § 1.
