Every person, firm, corporation, public carrier, or agent thereof violating or failing to comply with any of the provisions of §§ 726—729 of this title or of the rules or regulations promulgated hereunder shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than two thousand dollars ($2,000), or by imprisonment in jail for a term of not less than one (1) month nor more than six (6) months, or by both penalties in the discretion of the court.
