The Secretary of Agriculture is hereby empowered to dispose of, in the manner which he may deem most convenient, said prohibited animals, microorganisms and insects, whether delivered or seized under the terms of this chapter, either resorting to their destruction on his own account or to their destruction or custody through societies for the protection of [cruelty to] animals, if he so deems convenient, or through donations as live or dead specimens to scientific institutions, aquariums, museums or zoological parks.\nHistory —June 23, 1971, No. 70, p. 209, § 5.
