Public counsel attorneys appointed by the court to act in criminal or civil cases who issue sworn statements in said cases, the notaries who represent agencies or public instrumentalities of the Commonwealth and of the United States of America, or in those cases in which by provision of law, the cancelling of the Internal Revenue stamp and the notary’s fees is excluded, or those notaries who practice their notarial work as elected officials in the performance of their duties, shall not be compelled to cancel the stamp in benefit of the Society for Legal Assistance. Neither shall the notaries be compelled to cancel said stamp in case of a sworn statement or affidavit for electoral purposes. History —June 4, 1982, No. 47, p. 95, § 3.
