Any person or driver of a vehicle who causes damages to the surface, support, ditches, embankments, bridges, sewers, odometrical posts, traffic signals, islets, fences or any other similar structure of the highways shall pay the cost of repairing the damage caused according to expert appraisal by the Department. When the damage has been caused intentionally or maliciously, the violator besides paying the repair cost, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction punished by a fine of not less than fifty [dollars] ($50) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500), or imprisonment in jail for a term of not less than six (6) months.\nHistory —May 30, 1973, No. 54, p. 135, § 8-01, eff. 30 days after May 30, 1973.
