The Secretary shall establish, through regulations, a point system or rating schedule to fix the points or demerits that shall be accrued against drivers for every infraction constituting an administrative fault, for the conviction for a misdemeanor by virtue of this chapter, and shall provide the measures that must be taken when an offender accumulates several levels of points which may range from a written notice, to the suspension and revoking of the driving license.\nWhen a person commits an administrative fault or misdemeanor for an infraction of the provisions of this chapter or its regulations, the Secretary shall determine, within the limits established for each violation, the number of points the infractor shall accrue.\nHistory —Jan. 7, 2000, No. 22, § 3.22; June 3, 2004, No. 132, § 3, eff. 8 months after June 3, 2004.
