In the performance of the advisory, investigative and study functions delegated to it in § 254 of this title, the Food and Nutrition Commission shall:(a) Request and obtain any information, data, statistics, reports, documents or any other material that is needed to conduct its studies and investigations.(b) Hold the hearings and on-site inspections needed for the purposes provided in this chapter. Any hearing before the Commission shall be public, but may be private when justified in the public interest.(c) Inspect the records, inventories of documents and physical facilities of the public agencies or private entities that receive public funds for food and nutrition programs.
