(a) [The] 'Puerto Rican Children’s Health Education Award' of the Department of Education of the Government of Puerto Rico [is hereby created] in order to promote and recognize the programs established in the public schools of Puerto Rico that foster physical activity and healthy nutrition for the children of our Island.(b) The Department of Education of the Government of Puerto Rico is hereby empowered to approve regulations to provide all the rules and procedures necessary to make effective the granting of the Award established in this section.(c) The first prize consists of five thousand dollars ($5,000), the second prize, three thousand dollars ($3,000), and the third prize, two thousand dollars ($2,000) for schools whose programs promote physical activity and healthy nutrition for the children of our Island.(d) The funds needed to enforce the provisions of this section shall originate from the General Expenses Fund of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
