Pursuant to § 27k of this title, the Department of Justice is hereby directed to offer the needed support, by petition of the Secretary of Housing, in the cases or litigation pending against the extinct CRUV or the Office. The Department of Housing shall have the same rights and powers, except the capacity to sue and be sued, and may resort to the same defenses used by the Office in case of any litigation or claim related to the transferred assets and shall pay any adverse judgment chargeable to the Special Independent Fund or to the General Fund, upon prior authorization of the Office of the Management and Budget.
