Each United States presidential candidate who meets the requirements provided for in § 961f of this title, shall designate, through the presidential official, eight (8) presidential electors and four (4) alternate presidential electors, as provided in § 961e of this title.The designation of presidential electors shall be notified in writing to the Chairperson of the Commonwealth Elections Commission on or before the 1st of October of each year in which a presidential election is held.The alternate presidential electors shall exercise their right to vote in the case of the death, absence, disability, or resignation of any of the presidential electors, according to the order in which they appear [on] the list remitted to the Chairperson of the Commonwealth Elections Commission.
