As per the Constitution of Puerto Rico, the Senate of Puerto Rico and the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico shall be the sole judges of the legal qualifications of their respective members, the validity of the tally sheets, and the canvass of the election of their members. In the event of a contest over the election of a member of the Senate or the House of Representatives, the Commission shall place all documents and papers related to the election of the official in dispute at the disposal of the legislative house concerned.\nHistory —June 1, 2011, No. 78, § 10.018.
