Any aspirant, candidate, independent candidate, lobbyist, elected official, or person who, on behalf thereof, offers or agrees to appoint, or to obtain the appointment of a specific person for any public office as an incentive or reward for voting in favor of said aspirant, candidate, or independent candidate, or for contributing to his/her campaign, or for obtaining help or assisting in his/her election, and any person accepting or seeking such an offer, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, be punished by imprisonment for a term not to exceed six (6) months, or a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500), or both penalties, at the discretion of the court.\nHistory —June 1, 2011, No. 78, § 12.016.
