(a) The owner, lessor, proprietor, or operator of any hotel must keep a register, for a term of not less than one (1) year, which shall contain the name, street address, date of arrival, and date of departure of its guests. For the purposes of this section, said register may be reproduced and kept in photographs, photo copies, microfiches, microcards, microphotographs, or any other process that reproduces the original register, including hard copies.(b) Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, be punished by a fine not greater than five hundred dollars ($500) for each violation.
