Separate documents for the sale contract and that of the service warranty, if any, shall be executed for every sale of domestic goods and appliances, or electronic devices in Puerto Rico. The warranty contract for services shall only be effective upon expiration of the term of the warranty of the article sold by the commercial establishment that makes the sale, or the manufacturer, whichever is greater. It shall also pay for labor in those cases that said payment is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. It shall also cover any defect or damage, as established in the warranty contract of the original product acquired. The service contract or warranty shall take effect as an exception in coexistence with the original guarantees, if it provides coverage on any element of the insured product that is not covered by said original warranty, and always providing for the payment of labor.
