It shall be illegal to remove, mutilate, cross out, or alter the tag or seal of a textile product once it has been put on the market in Puerto Rico, and before the product is sold and delivered to the consumer.\nProvided, That any person who introduces, sells or advertises a textile product for sale in Puerto Rico may substitute the product’s tag or seal, or add another one which also adjusts to the provisions of this chapter, provided the seal or tag used has the name and identification of the person who makes the substitution or addition, and the country from which the product originates.\nIf a person who is not the consumer opens a package which has the label required by this chapter, and the package has one or more textile products, the person who opens the package must label each and every one of the products contained therein.\nHistory —June 14, 1980, No. 134, p. 500, § 9, eff. 180 days after June 14, 1980.
