In an indictment charging the fact of a previous conviction of a public offense, or of an attempt to commit a public offense, it is sufficient to state 'that the defendant, before the commission of the offense charged in this indictment, was sentenced for the offense of_________ (giving the name of the offense) in _________ (giving the name of the court by which he was sentenced).'
