The professional personnel of the Institute of Forensic Sciences shall not participate as private experts in civil suits. Whenever the professional staff of the Institute is summoned by the court or by request of one of the parties to testify in a civil suit in which it intervened in the investigation, the court will fix the appropriate reasonable fees which shall be consigned in court beforehand, and then transferred to the operating funds of the Institute. Likewise, the court shall fix the corresponding transportation expenses and per diems to be paid to the official of the Institute summoned by the court.\nHistory —July 24, 1985, No. 13, p. 689, § 35, retroactive to July 1, 1985.
