If there be several dominant tenements, the owners of all of them shall be obliged to contribute to the expenses referred to in the preceding section, in proportion to the benefits each may obtain from the work. The one who does not wish to contribute may exempt himself by renouncing the servitude for the benefit of the others.\nIf the owner of the servient tenement shall, in any manner whatsoever, make use of the servitude, he shall be obliged to contribute to the expenses in the proportion already stated, unless there be an agreement to the contrary.\nHistory —Civil Code, 1930, § 480.
