If the hereditary estate should not be sufficient for the payment of the debts and legacies, the administrator shall render an account of his administration to the creditors and legatees who have not been paid in full, and he shall be liable for the damages caused the estate through his fault or negligence.\nHistory —Civil Code, 1930, § 985.
