The vendor cannot exercise the right of redemption without returning to the vendee the price of the sale, in addition to:\n(1) The expenses of the contract and any other legitimate payment made by reason of the sale.\n(2) The useful and necessary expenses incurred in the thing sold.\nIn order that redemption suits may proceed, a price must be set if it is known, or if not, that a bond be put up to consign it when it is known.\nHistory —Civil Code, 1930, § 1407; May 27, 1980, No. 71, p. 175, § 1.
