The general purposes that determine the imposition of the penalty are the following:\n(a) The prevention of crimes and the protection of society.\n(b) The fair punishment of the principal in proportion with the seriousness of the crime and the accountability of the principal.\n(c) The moral and social rehabilitation of the convict.\n(d) To do justice to the victims of crime.\nHistory —June 18, 2004, No. 149, § 47, eff.
