Any person who knowingly makes a false statement or allegation that a crime has been committed by means of a claim, request, information, strict confidences, regardless of whether same is anonymous or under a false name, directed to persons or officers with legal authority to conduct criminal investigations, thus causing the initiation of an investigation to clarify such false statement or allegation shall incur a misdemeanor.\nHistory —June 18, 2004, No. 149, § 273, eff.
