Eligible officials and employees who have accrued at least five (5) years of service as such, may request a sabbatical leave pursuant to the provisions of §§ 291—295u of this title and the regulations to be adopted by the Secretary for these purposes. Sabbatical leave may be granted for a maximum period of one (1) year, except when due the nature of the studies, training or research, it is determined otherwise. The eligible personnel shall make the commitment to render services to the Department for a period equal to double the duration of the sabbatical leave granted. History —Aug. 9, 2004, No. 205, § 30.
