The Executive Branch of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico shall reorganize the manner that direct services shall be rendered to the citizenry, by establishing an Extended Hours Service Program to serve the public. The Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico shall designate through an Executive Order, the government agencies or public corporations that shall participate in the extended hours service program, the schedule of extended service and the mechanisms to be used for the selection of employees who shall participate in the Program, according to the needs of the citizenry. Provided, That the employees participating in this Program shall do so voluntarily through an agreement signed to such effects, and preference shall be given to those of greater seniority in the public service.\nThose agencies that are currently participating in the Extended Hours Service Program shall continue to operate according to the schedule established by this chapter, until the Executive Order mentioned in the preceding paragraph is established.\nHistory —Apr. 11, 2001, No. 15, § 1; Aug. 8, 2002, No. 123, § 1.
