(1) On or before six (6) months from the approval of this act, the Electric Power Authority (AEE, Spanish acronym) together with the Environmental Quality Board and the Solid Waste Authority shall establish a pilot program for an 18-month period using the used oil generated in Puerto Rico, in the facilities of the AEE, to recover energy in compliance with the norms and regulations established by the regulating agencies. Its purpose shall be, among others, to determine its viability, cost-effectiveness, limitations and possible difficulties of the method employed.(2) The Authority, in coordination with the Environmental Quality Board and the AEE shall prepare a report to the Legislature based on the experience of the pilot project, its compliance with environmental standards and the results thereof, and shall make recommendations for its final implementation islandwide.
